What would you love to achieve this year?
Are there any fears and doubts that are stopping you?
Is your “comfort zone” holding you back from following your heart’s desire?
It is hard to believe that it is almost 10 years since we made the decision to leave our “comfort zone” and take our Cycling for Peace journey across America. Ray’s inspired idea to bicycle across America after 9-11 came to him through his heart—not his head. Together we decided to follow our hearts’ desire to deliver a positive message of hope and healing to everyone we met along the 3,369-mile route.
Did we have any fears? Of course!
Did we have any doubts? Of course!
Uncomfortable? You bet!
It took courage and bravery for us to look past our doubts and fears, and instead focus on the desired intention which filled us with joy. To achieve it, we had to leave the comfortable and familiar (house, business clients, family, friends, usual daily routine, etc.) and step—or, in this case, pedal—into the unknown.
How did we do it? Ray likes to say, “One stroke of the pedals at a time.”
The Secret: Keep your heart’s desire (goal) always in mind, even when fears and doubts arise; in other words. . .
Focus your attention on your intention!
Your own heart’s desire awaits you! No matter how “big” or “small.”
Do you have any fears? Of course!
Do you have any doubts? Of course!
Are you willing to start moving out of your “comfort zone,” even just a small step?
Here’s a quick lesson in leaving “comfort zones”: Before a baby eagle can fly, it must work up the courage to leave the comfort zone of its nest. If it doesn’t do so on its own, its loving mom, who knows when the eaglet is ready, will gently shove it out of the nest. (Consider this blog post your “gentle shove.”)
In Native American culture, the eagle is a powerful spiritual symbol and possesses great vision. The eagle does not curse the wind but instead spreads its wings and allows the wind to lift it effortlessly, as it spirals higher and higher into the sky. The eagle gains power by soaring with the winds of change.
We see you as being very much like the eagle.
We challenge you to spread your wings and soar like an eagle this year!
Remember, when you feel fear and doubt . . .
Focus your attention on your intention!
It will harness the power of the universe.
As human beings we have been specially endowed with the ability to design new creations and consciously attract to us desirable circumstances. As such, we each have access to the same powerful laws that created the universe:
The Law of Conservation: Nothing can be destroyed, only changed
The Law of Cause and Effect: Every action creates a reaction
The Law of Mind Action: Your thoughts create corresponding effects
The Law of Unity: Love is the unifying, harmonizing power of the universe
Every fear is an opportunity for us to use our imaginations with greater God-like skill. The challenge (and opportunity) for us is to step into our fear and rise to a new level of possibility. It’s good to know that “over 90% of the things we fear never happen to us.” The following affirmation will help as you courageously step in your fears this week:
Affirmation: Courageously I find the gift in every challenge
